In 1992, Amanda Bossard began her studies in marine biology in Anchorage at Alaska Pacific University. Bossard launched her professional career in the field of commercial fish worker in the year 1999. She started working at the vessel F/V Sunset a 65' halibut-schooner which was converted into a Salmon tender, in the name of Murat Aritan who was employed as a commercial fisherman since 1993. They are both in favor of conservative and profitable management of sustainable seafood resources. Otolith was founded in Philadelphia through Bella Bossard who is now mom to two boys who are aged three and one Bossard. The name Otolith is a fond memory of Bossard's deep knowledge about fish biology and her husband's vast connections to the business of fishing. They are often separated for up to 5 months each time they strive to achieve objectives in the areas of environmental and financial that reflect their commitment and autonomy wherever they are. Bossard with her son Andre 10 and Isabella 12 each year return in Southeast Alaska as deckhands to collect wild salmon in the summer. They use hooks and line to catch their fish and then join Aritan to sell to local processors for 2 months. After that, they grow their direct seafood sale through Otolith Sustainable Seafood. Amanda Bossard, Anchor/MMJ of News 12 Brooklyn and News 12 Bronx has been for these stations since the beginning of November of 2015.
